About the Creator
Innovator & Inventor
Ed Kukuruda’s commitment to innovation stems from deep family roots.
His grandfather, also named Edward Kukuruda, was a coal miner in the early 1900s and the inventor of the adjustable pipe wrench (1914) and a wedge system to secure picks to long handles.
Though Ed never met his grandfather—due to his father’s early placement in an orphanage during the Great Depression—his brother’s genealogical research in 2017 uncovered this legacy of ingenuity.
Exactly 100 years after his grandfather’s invention, Ed followed in his footsteps with the creation of the Measuring and Marking Template System (MAMTS) in 2014. This invention laid the groundwork for Pro-MarX, an automated, self-navigating wall-marking system designed to bring precision, speed, and safety to framing and construction work.
MAMTS included:
- A chalk gun for marking,
- A foundation bolt location template, and
- A custom 8′ level with color-coded slots (blue for 16″ O.C., red for 24″ O.C.), expandable to 24 feet.
- Every 4-foot interval featured a half-red, half-blue circled dimension for clear visual reference.
Today, Ed continues to build on that legacy—fusing time-honored craftsmanship with modern technology—to shape the future of the construction industry.
